We are a local Greensboro, NC team specializing in popcorn ceiling removal and textured ceiling repair.

This is not something we started because we saw a business opportunity and decided to put up a website.

Actually, it started much more simply.

About 17 years ago, we decided to remove the popcorn ceiling in our own place.

At that time we didn't really think much about it. We just wanted to get rid of that old textured ceiling and make the room look better.

We quickly found out that removing popcorn ceiling is not as easy as it looks.

There is scraping, preparing the surface, fixing imperfections, sanding, cleaning... and then you look up and realize you still have the rest of the ceiling to finish.

But when we were done, the difference was huge.

The room looked cleaner and newer. We liked the result so much that when friends and relatives started asking us if we could help them with their ceilings, we said yes.

One job became another.

Then another one.

Before long, we started getting calls from people who had heard about our work from somebody else.

That's when we started thinking: maybe this is something we can do professionally.

From Our Own Ceiling to a Local Business

In the beginning, we were learning as we went.

We tried different tools. We learned what works and, just as important, what doesn't.

We learned that every ceiling is different.

Some popcorn comes off pretty easy. Other ceilings can be a real pain.

Sometimes you find old repairs underneath. Sometimes the drywall needs more work than expected. Sometimes a ceiling that looks fine from the floor has cracks or uneven areas that become obvious once the texture is removed.

Over the years, we developed our own process for dealing with these situations.

A Ceiling in Lindley Park That We Still Remember

One project that comes to mind was a house in Lindley Park.

The homeowners were doing a gradual renovation. They weren't trying to completely change the house. They liked the older character and wanted to keep it.

But the popcorn ceiling in the main living area was bothering them.

They told us something that we hear pretty often:

"We like everything else. We just can't stand that ceiling."

The ceiling itself wasn't terrible. But because the room had good natural light, the texture was very noticeable.
